Nautika Dubrovnik: Is the Food as Good as the View?

A very good reason to leave room for dessert.

If you’re choosing one special dinner in Dubrovnik, I can’t recommend Nautika enough. It’s the best restaurant I’ve been to in Europe. The food was wonderful, the service was phenomenal, and we had a front-row terrace table overlooking the sea at sunset. I loved the whole evening.

And then came the best dessert I’ve ever had. It was blueberry, which makes this even funnier because I don’t like blueberry. I’ll explain, but first: yes, the food is every bit as much a reason to come here as the view.

Nautika is a splurge, so I’d save it for a dinner you want to make a real part of your trip. Here’s what we ordered, how we got that terrace table, and what to know before booking your own.

The food, and the people who made the evening

I had the Beef Charolais Fillet, and Kai ordered the Sea Bass Fillet. I loved my meal, and dinner was already wonderful before dessert arrived.

The service was phenomenal, and it’s a huge part of why I loved Nautika so much. The food and setting are easy to show in photos, but the people looking after us deserve just as much credit for making it such a wonderful evening.

Please leave room for the blueberry dessert

I don’t like blueberry, so I really wasn’t expecting a blueberry dessert to become my favorite dessert ever. But here we are. It was beautiful on the plate, and cracking through the shell made it even better.

The shell blended into the filling so well. The texture was exactly right, the flavor was balanced, and every bite felt like someone had put so much care into it. This is the dessert I’d tell a friend to order, even if blueberry isn’t usually their first choice.

On the current menu it’s called Blueberry: Bavarian cream, chocolate biscuit and blueberry jam, at €25. I’d order it again in a second. If you’re deciding whether to save room for something sweet, my vote is a very enthusiastic yes.

Let the view be part of the evening

From the terrace, you’re looking over the water between Lovrijenac and Bokar. During our dinner, kayakers were coming back across the bay and birds were moving through the evening sky. It was such a beautiful place to sit while the light changed.

If you can, choose a reservation that lets you see the bay while there’s still daylight. Then you get the evening light, the table lamps coming into their own, and time to enjoy the view between courses.

Check the sunset time for your date alongside the available tables. Nautika currently opens for dinner at 6 p.m., so whether you can catch sunset depends on the season.

How we got our front-row terrace table

I emailed the day before we wanted to go. At first, the restaurant could offer us a table toward the back. Then another email came through: there had been a cancellation, and they could move us to a front-row terrace table.

We got so lucky. That table at sunset was beautiful, and I’m so glad I emailed. I’d still book much earlier if you have a particular evening in mind, especially for a celebration.

Ask about the terrace when you book and have the restaurant confirm the seating and the alternative in bad weather. If your preferred time looks full, it’s worth asking directly about availability or cancellations. Wait for a confirmed reservation before making it your dinner plan.

Our front-row table came through after a cancellation. I would ask again, but plan further ahead.

What to budget, and what to check before booking

To help you plan, the current menu lists the Beef Charolais Fillet at €68 and Blueberry at €25. Together that’s €93 per person before drinks or any starter. There are also five-course options at €155 per person, ordered by the whole table, so discuss that choice together.

These are current menu examples, rather than our bill. VAT is included and there’s no couvert charge. Whole fish is priced separately by weight, so ask for the expected total if you’re considering it.

  • Find it: Brsalje 3, beside Pile Gate, just outside Dubrovnik’s Old Town.
  • Check your timing: the restaurant currently lists daily dinner hours of 6 p.m. to midnight. Its booking terms limit a reservation to 2 hours 45 minutes.
  • Reserve directly: follow the booking link on Nautika’s website, or email sales@nautikarestaurants.com. A request is not a confirmed table; wait for the restaurant’s confirmation.
  • Read the cancellation terms: the current booking system requires card verification, with a €50-per-person authorization five days before dinner. Its policy says the hold is released after arrival, but charged for a no-show or cancellation after 2 p.m. on the reservation day. Check the terms shown for your booking before submitting.

Should this be your special dinner in Dubrovnik?

If this fits your budget and you want a dinner to look forward to, yes! I’d recommend Nautika for the food, the wonderful service and the chance to spend an evening by the water. It’s a lovely choice for a celebration or a date, but you don’t need an occasion beyond wanting a really good dinner.

I would be so excited to go back. Book ahead, ask about the terrace, and please leave room for dessert.
